The English Department is tasked with ensuring the successful language acquisition and development of all our students and in this vein, our subject is compulsory. We also work closely with other subjects since English is the medium of instruction in most of the subjects taught in the school. Thus, we endeavour to ensure that our students have native language proficiency in listening, speaking, reading and writing.
Socially, we promote the appreciation of the arts and our world through studies in various cultures, eras and literature. Outside of lessons, we nurture creativity and create avenues for the development of artistic talent through various clubs, programmes and competitions such as our Orator of the Year Competition, the Writers’ Centre, the Drama Club, the Debate Club and S.P.E.A.K. (a spoken word club).
Our school’s motto is Knowledge in the Service of Africa, and to better serve our continent, clear communication is imperative and that is our remit.
