Mrs Helena Melomey holds a BA degree in History from the University of Ghana, Legon and a Post Graduate Diploma in Education from the University of Cape Coast. Additionally, Helena Melomey has certificates in Leadership tools for Heads of Department from the Teacher Training Center (TTC), London, Exeter Humanities Institute, New Hampshire, USA and the International Baccalaureate Organisation (IB). Mrs Melomey first taught at Achimota School for twelve years, then at the Ghana Christian International High School (GCIHS) for six years and in the last nine years she has been with SOS Hermann Gmeiner College. She is married with one daughter. At Achimota School, she taught History and also served as Head of the History Department as well as house mistress for eleven years. At GCIHS, she was in charge of pastoral care. Currently, Mrs Helena Melomey is a History teacher and the Head of Department of Humanities at SOS-HGIC. She is also the Senior House tutor and a member of the Senior Management Team. Mrs Melomey is an IB Examiner for History Paper 2 and moderates Internal Assessments as well. The fundamental values that drive her actions are diligence, compassion, reliability and service. In executing her duties as an educator, Mrs Melomey strives to foster in her students self-confidence, the joy of learning, a sense of responsibility and respect for others.
