Former students of SOS-HGIC returned to their alma mater to attend the national day. The event featured a variety of cultural performances, including traditional dances and skits, as well as a diverse selection of dishes from around the world. The alumni were excited to reconnect with the school community. Paul Forjoe, an artist and alumnus of SOS-HGIC, returned to his alma mater to lead the Poetry/Spoken Words Community Action Service (CAS) group. The Poetry/Spoken Words CAS group was created to provide a platform for students to express themselves creatively through poetry and spoken word.  Under Paul’s leadership, the Poetry/Spoken Words CAS group has flourished. Paul brings his years of experience in the arts to the group, helping students develop their writing and performance skills. The recent Alumni Advisory Council meeting was a productive and collaborative gathering of school staff and alumni. During the meeting, we discussed the objectives of the alumni office and reviewed our past events and activities while also discussing upcoming events. The discussion was focused on fostering a sense of community among alumni, promoting the school's values and traditions, and supporting current students and faculty. Representatives from SOS Lesotho recently visited the college to discuss ways to increase enrollment of students from Lesotho into SOS - HGIC. The delegation, which included, Youth Development /Alternative Care Coordinator; Ithabeleng Ramonate; Social Worker, Palesa Khotlele and two  SOS Villages mothers; Ms. Christine Aboke and Ms. Julia Masabata Lepheana, met with the School Leadership Team (SLT) and teachers to explore opportunities for collaboration and partnership. The ESAF Youth Power Summit is a youth empowerment program aimed to support young people to strengthen their initiatives as well as foster a culture of youth involvement in Africa. Over 40 participants from 17 nations attended the summit. The youth leaders acted as mentors, listening to the teenagers' proposals and providing constructive feedback. ‘Yurlim’, a Dagbani word meaning ‘love’, was aptly chosen for this initiative's name. This foundation was founded by a group of DP1 students and catered to the social and emotional needs of teenagers and encourages them also to practice self-love for the entirety of their lives.   The Yurlim Initiative was launched on Thursday 5th January 2023 at the Labadi Beach Hotel. The Book Launch of Natasha N. Nettey’s book titled , “It’s Your World, Evangeline!” took place on Thursday, 5th January, 2023 at the Labadi Beach Hotel. Celebrating different cultures at SOS - HGIC,  a school with students from all over Africa, is a wonderful way to foster a sense of community, diversity, and inclusivity. The annual school Christmas concert was a festive and joyous occasion filled with music, dance, and cheer. The Magaret Nkrumah Hall was filled to capacity with students, teachers, and parents all eager to participate in the holiday celebration. The concert began with a performance by the school choir, who sang a selection of classic Christmas carols. Their beautiful harmonies and joyful expressions added to the concert's festive atmosphere.
