The department follows the prescribed curriculum for the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) and the International Baccalaureate (IB). At the IGCSE level, we offer Business Studies, Economics, Geography and History. At the IB diploma level, we offer Economics (HL & SL), Geography (HL & SL), History (HL & SL) and Social and Cultural Anthropology (HL & SL). The courses are rigorous and develop students’ creativity and analytical abilities, broaden their knowledge base and enhance their research skills.
Students can offer our subjects at the IGCSE level through to the IB level or at IB level as a completely new subject.
Aside from academic work, we organize a biennial Humanities Day. The day is characterized by various speeches from experienced professionals on socio-economic issues affecting the continent and the world. We also give our students the opportunity of developing their public speaking skills through our activities.
The department is at the helm of the college’s partnerships with other high schools around the world, providing the opportunity for students to explore the world around them.
Field trips are also organised to enrich students’ learning. This gives our students the opportunity of applying theoretical concepts to real-life situations.
It is our goal to foster a great learning environment.
