Announcement of New Principal

The Board Chair, Dr Mrs Margaret Nkrumah, and the entire Board are delighted to announce the appointment of the New Principal, Mrs. Eliz Dadson, who will be the third Principal of the college. She joined the College in August 2019 as Vice-Principal II and has already demonstrated great leadership, competence, integrity, and the courage of her convictions.

Mrs. Dadson graduated with an MSc degree in Information Systems and Technology from City University, London, and then also completed an MPhil in Information Science there. She worked at a number of city of London firms before cross-training to teaching, where she gained her PGCE in ICT at Canterbury Christ Church University College in the UK. Eliz has over fifteen years’ experience in both teaching and management roles; she has just completed her NPQH (National Professional Qualification for Headship), a gold star in school leadership internationally. The Journey to MYP at SOS-HGIC

Rationale for transition to MYP

SOS-HGIC is committed to becoming a school that offers the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) for the two years prior to the IB Diploma Programme (DP) that we have offered since 1993. There are two related reasons for doing this:

  1. To allow us to focus on providing to our students the best possible preparation for the DP and beyond
  2. To create a coherent four-year academic education for our students with one consistent educational philosophy

The school needs to go through a process of candidacy and then authorisation in order to offer the MYP. Our application for candidacy will be lodged early in 2018, teaching will begin in August 2018, and full authorisation will coincide with our first cohort of students emerging from the programme in 2020.
