Her Ladyship, Justice Klorkor Okai Mills

Her Ladyship, Justice Klorkor Okai-Mills, sits as a High Court Judge at the Law Courts Complex in Accra. She was first sworn into the Bench as a Circuit Court Judge in 2023. She practiced immigration law in the United States before returning to Accra, Ghana, in 2010 to head the Human Rights Office of the institution/NGO, Projects Abroad.

After being called to the Ghana Bar in October 2010, she worked with the internationally reputed firm, Bentsi-Enchill, Letsa & Ankomah. Subsequently, she joined the Ghana Armed Forces Legal Department as an Assistant Director of Legal Services. From that position, she was appointed Judge Advocate in the Office of the Judge Advocate General (JAG) of the Ministry of Defence, where she served from June 2013 to May 2023.

Apart from her official duties, Justice Okai-Mills serves on the Advisory Council of the Accra-based Historical and Cultural Society of Ghana (HACSA), a foundation established to promote and celebrate African heritage, culture, and the achievements of people of African descent. Additionally, she is a Director of the Nygard Foundation, an NGO based in Accra that focuses on early childhood education and environmental sustainability.

She holds a Juris Doctor (JD) degree from Villanova University School of Law, Pennsylvania, USA, and an undergraduate degree from Temple University, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where she graduated magna cum laude in Political Science and History with distinction. In that same year, she was inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society (USA) in 2003 for exceptional academic achievement in the Arts and Sciences. She was also elected and inducted into Pi Sigma Alpha, the National Political Science Honor Society (USA), and Phi Alpha Theta, the National History Honor Society (USA), both in May 2002.

Justice Okai-Mills was called to the New Jersey Bar (USA) in 2008 and to the Ghana Bar in 2010. She is a member of the American Bar Association and the Ghana Bar Association. She is married with three children and is also a proud Sunday School teacher at the Accra Ridge Church.
