Changing Lives—A book at a time: The READS Project Commissioned
On Friday, 15th August 2025, a delegation from SOS-HGIC travelled to the Volta Region for the commissioning of The READS Project at Anlo Awomefia Senior High School. The project, organised by a group of 14 students led by JoyNelly Djokoto-Gligui (DP1), marks a significant step in expanding access to educational resources and promoting a reading culture among students. Accompanying the group were staff members: Mrs. Rosemary Atisu, Mrs. Patricia Owusu Adjei, Mr. Jeremie Ghansah, Mr. Unity Nanor, and Mr. Bannerman, alongside students Jason Jinapor, Jephthah Djokoto-Gligui, Agnes Awen, Nana Kwaku Atuobi, Gabriel Ayensu Nyarko, John Godzi, Aseda Stanhope Essamuah, Mawunyo Folie, and Paulette Toffah. The delegation received a warm welcome from the presiding chief, Togbe Tenge Dzokoto Gligui VII, at his residence.

Project Highlights
The highlight of the ceremony was the ribbon-cutting of the newly renovated and stocked library, jointly performed by the group leader and the two queen mothers. This symbolic act marked the official launch of the READS Project. The students of Anlo Awomefia Senior High School expressed their deep enthusiasm and gratitude for the project, showing how much it matters to them and their academic development.

More than just books on shelves, the READS Project is about empowering students—helping them strengthen literacy skills, unlock knowledge, and dream bigger. For our SOS-HGIC students, it was a lesson in leadership, compassion, and the power of service.
