Knowledge in the Service of Africa Manifesting through children of Alumni : Book Donation by Child2Child Book Foundation

SOS – HGIC received book donations from Sedinam and Eline Asase; daughters of Nana Afoah Appiah-Korang, an alumna of SOS HGIC (Class of 1996) and their friends; Amirrah Uwhubetine, Azzarrée Uwhubetine, Isabelle Quaynor (sister of Nii Addo Quaynor, Class of 2019) and Oliviah Matthews. This group of friends started a non-profit organization called Child2Child foundation (“C2C”) to share their love of reading by donating books to West Africa, starting with Nigeria, where most of them grew up. Through the use of different platforms, the C2C girls raised over $20,000 and partnered with Books for Africa to source and ship a container of books to Ghana..Over 500 books were donated to HGIC and they varied from novels, to math, world history and geography books.

Our students are encouraged to display selfless devotion to community service through our Creativity, Action, Service (CAS) programs and this donation will help them to do just that. As part of their CAS project, Oasis, the DP2 students will be donating some of the books to Community 8 No 2 Library.
