SOS-HGIC CLASS OF 2022 IB DIPLOMA PROGRAMME RESULTS

Our IB Diploma Programme Class of 2022 have done us proud, and we are suitably impressed with their results in the May 2022 Session of the IB Diploma Programme exams. We would like to congratulate all our 86 students on their examination results; we are very proud of them and they should celebrate this moment and take pride in their achievements and examination success.

Our students are a credit to the college and to their families; they all deserve honourable mentions in a letter like this, however, we wish to extend and highlight the achievement of two members of the Class of 2022 who achieved near-perfect scores of 43! Congratulations to Michelle Lawson and Joonhyung Cho well done! This is no surprise given they jointly won the Scholar of the Year Award at graduation this year. Please join us in celebrating their achievements!!!

Joonhyung Cho – SOS-HGIC ‘22

Michelle Lawson – SOS-HGIC ‘22

In other exciting news, this year, we had 5 students (6%) achieving aggregate grades between 40 and 45; 23 students (27%) also achieved aggregates between 35 and 39. 36 students (42%) gained aggregates between 30 and 34. 20 students (24%) achieved aggregates between 24 and 29 with 1 student achieving an aggregate below 24.

These are great results for our maiden Middle Years Programme (MYP) cohort but to achieve this after spending most of their Diploma Years online is phenomenal. It is important to note that since 2019 when our last IGCSE examinations were taken, all students have automatically progressed from the MYP to the Diploma Programme without the mandatory IGCSE examination result requirements we had before. This is our first set of results from students who had trusted our process of inquiry based learning by following the MYP and not the traditional IGCSE examinations.

We are immensely proud of our staff and students who worked hard to achieve these grades especially at a very difficult time for them. We are very grateful for the support we have had from parents and share in your joy at this time of celebration. We wish the class of 2022 all the best as they embark on their further study options and university courses. We feel sure that these results alongside the experiences they have had while at SOS-HGIC will ensure that they succeed in all their future endeavours.

There are obviously lessons to learn to ensure that our students continue to receive the best support when making subject choices for the (IBDP) and also when progressing from MYP to IBDP to ensure we continue to improve on this result. We have appointed Mrs. Ayeshat Addison to take up the role of Academic Lead this academic year in addition to her role as IB DP Coordinator and we are confident that she will take the academic program from strength to strength. We at SOS-HGIC will continue to work hard to sustain and improve on these results. Please see a breakdown over the past 5 years.

We are committed to working hard to ensure that SOS-HGIC continues to live up to its reputation to deliver a high-quality educational experience leading to outstanding results as it has always done over the last 30 years.
